At Tubuai, exploration diving takes you off the beaten track, in a peaceful and authentic atmosphere. There are no crowded, overcrowded dive sites here, just underwater landscapes sculpted by the elements: volcanic drop-offs, canyons and corals with a thousand reliefs.

Schools of jacks, nanue (grey saupe), anthias, marbled loaches, sharks, nudibranchs, occasional turtles... And during whale season (August to October), their songs can sometimes be heard underwater - a timeless moment.

Our dives are open to all levels, from beginner to advanced diver. They take place in small groups (maximum 5 divers), supervised by a passionate and experienced instructor, to guarantee comfort, safety and a friendly atmosphere.

After satiating themselves in the cold, choppy waters of Antarctica, humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) migrate each year to the warmer waters of Polynesia to breed and give birth.


Between August and October, several groups come to take refuge around our islands. At Tubuai Plongée, we're passionate about the oceans and these fascinating giants.

Our outings are conscious and respectful : no racing, no music, no forced launching. Just a sincere desire to approach without disturbing. You'll receive a full briefing: biology, behavior, whale anatomy, safety and approach rules. Sometimes, when conditions allow, you can slip slowly into the water, discreetly.
And if they agree, swimming alongside a whale becomes an unforgettable experience. A glance, a song, a slow movement... and everything stops.

Never dived before? Baptism diving is the ideal way to discover the wonders of the underwater world, safely and stress-free. Accompanied at all times by a qualified instructor, you'll dive gently in the clear, protected waters of Tubuai lagoon.

Just a few meters below the surface, a whole new world opens up: colorful coral, tropical fish, absolute calm... A unique and unforgettable experience.
